🌟 Meet our SG60 Changemakers: Lydia Susiyanti & Halinah Yatim 🌟
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at dawn, their void-deck in Ang Mo Kio comes alive with the buzz of breakfast bowls and laughter. Lydia, a mum of six juggling three part-time jobs, started the initiative after she saw children skip recess so their siblings could eat.
Her partner Halinah, supports faithfully – despite her own mobility issues – pushing her scooter each morning to serve kids cereals, toast with Nutella, hot Milo and juice.
But it’s more than food. Lydia and Halinah believe in dignity, choice and community: they ask the children what they’d prefer to eat so that the meal becomes a moment of belonging, not pity.
They’re proving that kindness doesn’t need grand gestures – just a little time, care and consistency can transform mornings, hearts, and futures. 💛🥣
📖 This is Part 1 of Lydia and Halinah’s SG60 Changemaker story. Part 2 will follow soon – stay tuned!
