Empathy refers to the ability to understand and share others’ feelings without direct personal experience. It is a crucial skill in today’s multicultural environment and has become even more relevant after the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted several underlying inequalities.
Soristic, with support from the National Youth Council, has developed In Their Shoes: an online simulation game geared towards building empathy in young people. One game is themed on seniors, and another is themed on youth and social mobility. Players get to choose a character and ‘live’ through scenarios they may face.
Following our Game Release event (https://soristic-in-their-shoes-release.eventbrite.sg), we are hosting a Game Review event on 25 March 2021 for educators wishing to run In Their Shoes workshops of their own. We’ll be going through the game, sharing our open-access educators’ guide and having an informal discussion about the key themes and takeaways.
We look forward to meeting you: let’s take this step together!
