Earlier this month, Lien Foundation, together with Blackbox Research, published a paper on parenting kids with special needs, to examine the inclusiveness of the Singapore society. They sought the views of both the parents of the kids with special needs as well as the society at large.
This research provided insights on the issues that some of these parents face, from quitting their jobs to be caretakers, to whether to send their children to mainstream schools. These statistics reflect the challenges that others may take for granted, and call on the need for Singapore to be more aware and inclusive.
